After the fourth tournament of the 2020 Epson Tour season, the Volvik Race for the Card welcomes some new players into the top-10 thanks to their performances at the fifth annual IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Beaumont, Calif.
Ruixin Liu (Guangdong, People’s Republic of China) stays in the No. 1 spot on the money list with $31,261, only $15.00 more than No. 2 Janie Jackson (Huntsville, Alabama) earning $31,246. A win a piece along with another top-10 has contributed to their rise to the top. Checking in at No. 3 is Fatima Fernandez Cano (Santiago, Spain), having collected $29,532 after a solo fourth finish at the Founders Tribute and winning the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa.
“It means so much to me so see all my hard work from over the years come together. I knew I was right there; I have had a few top-five finishes but this win really changes it for me,” said Fernandez Cano, taking home a winner’s check of $18,750 from Beaumont, Calif. “I was able to see where my game can be but know there is still work to be done. I’m excited to my name at the top of the Volvik Race for the Card with Ruixin and Janie but making sure I stay in the present and works towards each week one at a time.”
Moving down one spot in the rankings to No. 4 is Bailey Tardy (Norcross, Georgia) having claimed $19,839. Casey Danielson (Osceola, Wisconsin) shuffles to No. 5 having collective earnings from this year of $15,340. A new name to add into the mix, following a solo second finish last weekend at the IOA Championship, Anna Redding (Concord, North Carolina), climbs to No. 6 with total earnings of $15,018.
“I was proud of my play this past week and to have my game come together to shoot a personal best was so exciting,” said Redding, after scoring an 8-under par 64 in the first round of the IOA Championship.
“With this finish I’m in the top-10 which was the goal at the start of the season. I’m looking forward to competing in the rest of my rookie season and just learning each tournament.”
Joining at No. 7 after making the cut across the Epson Tour and LPGA Tour for five consecutive weeks Kim Kaufman (Clark, South Dakota) remains in the top-10 with $14,732. Sophia Popov (Heidelberg, Germany) may have dropped to No. 8 with $13,058 on the “Road to the LPGA”, but she secured full LPGA Tour status after winning the AIG Women’s Open (collecting winnings of $675,000). After a T3 finish at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon Laetitia Beck (Caesarea, Israel) joins the top-10 for the first time this year with $12,417. Finally, only competing in the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic Daniela Iacobelli (Melbourne, Florida) finds herself at No. 10 with $11,771.
At the end of the season, the top five players in the Volvik Race for the Card standings will graduate onto the LPGA Tour for the 2021 campaign.
