Gabby Lemieux (Caldwell, Idaho) recently joined the SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio program Katrek and Maginnes On Tap. A Shoshone-Paiute Native American of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation and Nike N7 ambassador, Lemieux shared her approach and preparation for a return to play with the anticipated changes on the Epson Tour due to the COVID-19 virus.
“They are taking everybody’s safety into consideration,” said Lemieux. “I think I am going to feel more comfortable knowing I can go out there and maybe pin seek or do things that would prepare me even more for the LPGA [Tour]. I can do things a bit differently [than originally planned].”
Lemieux experienced great success in her college career for Texas Tech University. She was the 2016 Big 12 Player of the Year and guided the Red Raiders to two NCAA Championship appearances. After turning professional, Lemieux was asked to become an ambassador for the Nike N7 brand, joining a list of elite athletes including her mentor and friend Notah Begay III.
“Nike N7 provides aboriginal and Native American communities the chance to have their kids get active through sport,” Lemieux said. “For me to be part of that is super special because it is what I did growing up. I played every sport under the sun. To give that opportunity to other kids is everything I love to be a part of.”
