Cydney Clanton
Clanton has spent time on the LPGA and Epson tours in 2023 as a dual member. The 34-year-old competed on the LPGA Tour last week at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G, where she finished just outside the top 10 in a tie for eleventh and has found success in the past on the Epson Tour with two career victories at the 2019 Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout and the 2013 Four Winds Invitational. The former Auburn University Tiger returns to Alabama this week to take on the Guardian Championship. Clanton has played steady golf in her appearances on the Epson Tour this season, collecting one top 10 in 12 events, and has only missed one cut in her last seven starts. Clanton’s last round on the Epson Tour was almost a month ago, where she carded a bogey-free 7-under round. If that is anything to go off of, expect to see Clanton near the top of the leaderboard come Sunday afternoon.
Agathe Laisne
Laisne heads into the Guardian Championship, a win away from securing her LPGA Tour card for the 2024 season. The France native is on an impressive stretch of golf, not missing a cut since March and collecting two runner-up finishes in the same stretch. One of those runner-up finishes came last week at the Black Desert Resort Championship, where Laisne shot 16-under for three rounds. Laisne is also a champion in the 2023 season, winning the Epson Tour’s season-opening event at the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic with a 6-under final round. A win would secure a card for Laisne this week, but with only four events left on the schedule, a top finish this week would all but secure her card for 2024.
Miranda Wang
Another winner early in the year was Miranda Wang, who took home her first career Epson Tour victory at the third tournament of the season. Wang’s win at the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa fell in the middle of an up and down time for her game. A top-10 finish at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship came after a string of missed cuts, and Wang never looked back, making eight cuts in the next nine events. During those nine events, Wang only finished outside the top 35 twice and is coming into the Guardian Championship after one of her best finishes of the season outside of her win. The rookie currently sits at No. 18 in the Race for the Card and seems to be finding her form once again. A win this week would move Wang right into the thick of the race to get a card for the LPGA Tour season in 2024.
