The LPGA Professionals National Championship crowned a new champion this year at the Kingsmill Resort, with Epson Tour member and LPGA Professionals Apprentice Allie White taking home the trophy after a playoff win over Sandra Changkija. The top-eight finishers in the 2023 LPGA Professionals National Championship earned themselves spots in the 2024 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, with White highlighting the group of eight when they head to Sahalee Country Club next summer.
"I told my friends at the beginning of the week, 'If I get this done, I'll be able to shake people's hands and say, 'I'm Allie, and I'm playing in a major next year.' So, I can't wait to do that all year long," said White.
White played her share of competitive golf, representing the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in college before turning professional in 2013. Since 2013, White has played in over 115 Epson Tour events, with the LPGA Professionals National Championship being her first win as a professional. The nerves started to set in for White when she walked up to the tee during the final hole of regulation.
"I was just white knuckling it, and I steered one way right," White said. "I chunked one short from there and then blasted a chip long. The nerves definitely caught up with me."
The bogey would force White into a playoff where she would win on the first playoff hole. White would hit her approach to a foot to close out her first championship win. The newly crowned LPGA Professionals National Champion is taking her talents to the booth at the French Lick Charity Classic in French Lick, Ind. With the experience of over 115 events, White has all the knowledge in the world regarding the Epson Tour and what it takes to stay out on tour. She will join Brian Hammons for the weekend coverage on No. 18.
"There are so many high-quality players on the Epson Tour, and I'm just so happy for them and their fans that we are giving them livestream media coverage and more props," said White. "Between working in the pro shop, a good bit lately and having a great week of golf in Virginia, I'm pretty excited to sit back and take notes watching the pros hit awesome golf shots on a sweet golf course!"
The stream will be broadcasted by GameKast, with the schedule for coverage coming later this week.
