Last week, Brynn Walker (St David’s, Pennsylvania) made her first-ever LPGA Tour start at the Volunteers of America Classic in Dallas, Texas. After missing the cut with rounds of 69-77, Walker came into the Donald Ross Classic wiser and with a fresh perspective as she fired a 3-under par 68 to sit in a tie for second.
“The one thing I learned last week is one round is one round so I will definitely keep the pedal to the metal and keep on going,” said Walker after carding five birdies on the day. “I think my play there gave me a little bit of belief that I can do it and even though I didn’t make the cut the second day, I think that was just a learning experience. The way I played I know I can compete at that level. You just don’t really know what’s gonna happen with golf. Sometimes the putts drop and sometimes they don’t so I’ll go out and play tomorrow and just see what happens and enjoy it.”
It certainly helps that Walker feels comfortable around a Donald Ross design since she grew up on a similar layout, and will continue using the positive outlook she’s brought into this week through the rest of the Epson Tour season.
“The course is a lot similar to the course I grew up playing on a Donald Ross so it’s just fun,” said Walker. “It feels a little more like home so I’m just going to try to enjoy it and see what happens.”
