She started the final round tied for the lead with two other players. But when the dust settled this afternoon, Lilia Vu (Fountain Valley, California) raised the Twin Bridges Championship trophy in Albany, N.Y. at Pinehaven Country Club after a 3-under par 68.
It is the second professional win for Vu, a rookie on the LPGA Tour in 2019. The University of California, Los Angeles alumna also steps into the winner’s circle for the first time earlier this season at the Garden City Charity Classic.
“It feels really good to come up on top this week. On the front nine I was really mad at myself and I saw my anger get the best of me. At the 9th tee-box I decided I was going to have fun. It all worked out and luckily I birdied 9 so that got me rolling,” said Vu. “At the tournament where I met Don, my caddie, I played really bad and I was contemplating quitting golf after that. I asked my mom, should I go to law school? Should I do something else? She said, ‘No, honey you are good enough. You need to pull yourself out of this.’ Ever since then everything got better just knowing I had her support.”
