Sophia Schubert (Oak Ridge, Tennessee) will complete Sunday’s final grouping, teeing off at 9:50 a.m. ET at Forest Oaks Country Club. While she bogeyed No. 12 and 13 coming in on Saturday, Schubert bounced back to end the day birdie-birdie-par-par and is two strokes off the lead.
“I needed that there at the end, I struggled at the end. I started off strong and then struggled but was able to get it back. I have really felt good about the last three days on this golf course. I have put myself in good positions out there and I am just trying to do the same tomorrow. The key is, that I have learned, is to be patient. Just keep chugging along and keep trying,” said Schubert.
The University of Texas alumna has five top-10 finishes in the last five starts and is currently No. 9 in the Race for the Card. Tomorrow, more than just a win is on the line, but with the weight of it all, she has a team around her helping her believe in what she can do.
“It feels great to have the support I have. I have a great team around me, with my parents, boyfriend, caddy, coaches and trainer. They have really helped me get to where I am. When I get down on myself they are there to pick me up and tell me I can do it. They have been a huge part of where I am,” said Schubert. “It would mean so much [to win tomorrow]. I mean I haven’t won a golf tournament in three years. I have been knocking on the door, I have had two second places this year, so I feel like I am close. It would mean a lot I think I would be able to take a deep breath after I win.
