Through 18 holes in the inaugural Twin Bridges Championship at Pinehaven Country Club, Maddie McCrary (Wylie, Texas) leads the way by one stroke following an opening 5-under par 66 highlighted by six birdies. McCrary credits her putting for today’s low score, with the longest one coming in at 60 feet on No. 14.
“I was actually using a different putter the last two weeks. I was playing at VOA (Volunteers of America Classic), and the PING rep fit me for another one,” said McCrary. “I really wasn’t having too much luck with the other one, so I threw it in the bag this week, and we are making some putts.”
McCrary has been a professional on the Epson Tour since 2018. While she has learned the life on the road, little things each week or day can always switch it up. This week the Tour is competing at Pinehaven Country Club for the first time, a course lined by trees and narrower than most on the schedule. She also was the last group to tee off this afternoon at 2:36 pm ET.
“I am used to tight courses like this; it fits my game a lot better. It shapes my eye, and it feels really good, especially the tee shots; it sets up really well for me,” said McCrary. “I stayed up a bit later last night, and then my roommate this week actually had an early tee-time, so I took her here since we are sharing a car and then went back to bed for a little while. Then did a stretch this morning, did my devotional, and spent some time with myself to get ready for the day.”
