Coming off five made cuts in a row, including 4 of her 6 top-10 finishes this season, Maude-Aimee Leblanc (Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada) picked up right where she left off in Rochester, N.Y., with a 4-under par 67 this afternoon in Albany. Her distance continues to be her strength on the Epson Tour, averaging 285.00 yards off the tee today, despite the narrow fairways.
“On No. 17, it’s a par-5 and reachable in two. I hit my drive in the rough, so I couldn’t go for it in two, but I hit a great shot to tap in distance. Then on No. 18, you just have to hit your drive in the fairway, and I hit my 9-iron to about 12-feet,” said Leblanc, on finishing the day with back-to-back birdies.
The Purdue University alumna is eager to clinch her spot in this season’s top-10 Race for the Card. With three runner-up finishes so far this year, Leblanc knows a win should help the odds.
“I am trying to keep the same mindset and try to stay confident (this week). I know there are a lot of tournaments left, but I want to secure my card as soon as I can,” said Leblanc. “So I have to keep the good play going and stay positive.”
