The 2020 Casino Hotel Champion Liu (, People’s Republic of China) and Celine Herbin (Avranches, France) both are 9-under par after Friday to sit tied for second together with Lauren Coughlin.
Liu battled through the front nine with four birdies and four bogeys. Despite hitting a drive into the water, she was able to lock in and make a few swing changes to find a more consistent game on the back nine.
“It was really difficult for me in the beginning with the weather a little bit different playing in the morning,” said Liu. “I also hooked my drivers - one in the water and one unplayable. I was to make bogey on those two holes. My swing was out of but my putting was there, so I was able to make four birdies. Then on the back I turned my body a little different which helped me keep my drives a little bit straighter.”
Herbin may find herself near the top of the leaderboard, but she understands where she must improve for the final push.
“Today I think I had probably four or five more putts than yesterday with the same birdie opportunities,” said Herbin. “I hit 16 greens again, so I am playing consistent. And I really like the course. I just keep going. This weekend looks like it might be a little windy, but I like the wind, so I am looking forward to it.”
