A big performance today from Maude-Aimee Leblanc (Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada) of 8-under 64 launched her into sole command of the lead at the 10th Island Resort Championship in Harris, Mich., with an overall score of -15.
“It was nice, everything felt easy today even though I didn’t feel comfortable over the ball. I was able to make putts. The wind started to pick up on the back, so it was a little harder to control the ball,” said Leblanc, who is currently No. 3 on Tour in average driving distance. “I think for me the biggest thing (tomorrow) is to trust what I am doing and try to beat the course. It would be great (to win) but I don’t put too much importance on winning. I just try to stay consistent with my game and it will take me wherever. If you want to stay consistent you have to stay consistent mentally, so I try to stay pretty leveled.”
Leblanc will be joined by Morgane Metraux (Lausanne, Switzerland) and Prima Thammaraks (Bangkok, Thailand) in the final pairing for the final round tomorrow at 11:43 p.m. ET off No. 1 tee. The Canadian has played in the final round once already this year but came short and finished T2 at the Copper Rock Championship.
