Even though she missed the cut in three of the first four events this season, goals are still in sight for Laura Gonzalez (Brussels, Belgium). She continues to gain steam following a 4-under par 68 in Garden City, Kan. this afternoon.
“It really feels nice to be back out here,” said Gonalez , after not competing on the Symetra or LPGA Tour since 2019 until a few weeks ago. “Honestly 2020 was really hard. It was all practice and no tournaments for me, so I really tried to keep motivated. I am so happy to be back competing after all the hard work.”
This week is fourth appearance since 2014 at the Garden City Charity Classic with previous finishes of T42, T34 and 75th. She leans on experience and knowledge she has gained throughout her years as a professional and at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in hopes to stay at the top of the leaderboard on moving day.
“Patience is going to be really important out here,” said Gonzalez . “The wind can really pick up and it looks like Sunday we might be getting some weather. I am going to try and keep it simple and hit as many fairways as I can, but it’s a fun layout here I really like it.”
