Laetitia Beck (Caesera, Israel), is currently T4, at 4-under with Savannah Vilaubi, with play left out on the course. The four-time All-ACC performer for Duke University, has missed four cuts in six starts this season. Two tournaments ago, she claimed her 8th career top-10 finish with T8 at the Garden City Charity Classic.
“The last few holes have a lot of water, so I really wanted to finish strong. On No. 17 I had about 180 yards, I was thinking maybe I would layup and I told myself, it’s a iron shot just go for it and keep making birdies,” said Beck. “(The confidence to go for those shots come from) me telling myself I didn’t come here to layup and I can hit the shots. Sometimes I create in my head the worst scenario, so it’s a lot of self-talk and telling myself I can hit the shot.”
Vilaubi finished thirteen holes on Saturday with two birdies and no bogeys thus far.
Anne-Catherine Tanguay (-3, T6) on where her game is at this week:
“I have been working a lot on my putting and some things are finally working. Ball-striking wise, my attitude just kept me going because yesterday I had bit of a harder day and didn’t hit that many fairways. Today I definitely made it work and hit seventeen greens after a small adjustment yesterday.
Lilia Vu (-3, T6) on how she feels after 36-holes at the Mission Inn Resort and Club:
“It was kind of a slow start with some pars and then made a birdie on No. 7, but then I chunked it into the water on 8. I tried to shake that off and just play my game. I tried to shake it off but I did get frustrated out there because I left some putts short. The greens are somewhat slower than yesterday, or maybe we are just playing more tentative, but I feel like I played well.”
Peiyun Chien (-3, T3) her putting in Howey-In-The-Hills:
“I feel like my putting speed is better this week. I am able to putt the ball closer to the hole and give myself more chances. I still missed a few good birdie looks, but overall I am happy with where I am. Tomorrow I want to minimize my mistakes, make more putts and enjoy the round.”
