After the ninth tournament of the Epson Tour season, the Volvik Race for the Card standings are clearly defined heading into the final week of the 2020 “Road to the LPGA” season.
For the third week in a row, Fatima Fernandez Cano (Santiago, Spain) claims No. 1 on the money list with season earnings of $48,069. Checking in at No. 2 is Ana Belac (Portoroz, Slovenia). Following her first win as a pro at the Carolina Golf Classic presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and $30,000 winner’s check, Belac sits just $937 back of Fernandez Cano. Kim Kaufman (Clark, South Dakota), Bailey Tardy (Norcross, Georgia) and Peiyun Chien (Pingtung, Chinese Taipei) round out the top five at $42,734, $40,128 and $36,570, respectively. Tardy is the lone member of the top five without a victory so far during the 2020 season.
Epson Tour rookie Lucy Li (Redwood Shores, California) leads the second half of the top-10, collecting $35,598 across eight starts with a season-best finish of runner-up in the Epson Classic. Fellow rookie Anna Redding (Concord, North Carolina) dropped three spots to No. 7 after a missed cut in the Carolina Golf Classic.
“At the beginning of the season, the goal was to earn LPGA membership,” said Redding, who set a career-best result of runner-up at the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in August. “I’m excited to have an opportunity to achieve that goal going into Epson Tour Championship. With this event being in North Carolina, I know I’ll have some great support on the course this week.”
Florida’s Natural Charity Classic champion Janie Jackson (Huntsville, Alabama) sits at $33,915 in No. 8 position, while Ruixin Liu (Guangdong, People’s Republic of China) trails Jackson by $1,077. Laura Wearn (Charlotte, North Carolina) completes the top-10. She found the winner’s circle for a third time in her Epson Tour career when she captured the IOA Classic presented by HomeValue.com title en route to cashing $31,566 so far this season.
At the completion of the Epson Tour Championship, the top five players in the Volvik Race for the Card earn LPGA Tour membership for 2021 and exemption into the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open at Champions Golf Club in December.
