In the latest LPGA Twitter Q&A, University of Georgia alumna and Rocky River, Ohio, native Jillian Hollis discussed the LPGA Tour return to play starting with two events in her home state, favorite memories from college and earning LPGA Tour membership through the Epson Tour, among other topics.— LPGA (@LPGA) July 14, 2020
“I just love every minute of being at Highland Meadows,” said Hollis, referring to the Marathon Classic presented by Dana. “My mom played in the tournament back when she was playing professional golf. Definitely a lot of history there.
“If there are fans, it’ll be great, and I’ll have a nice little following. It’s going to be surreal because playing on the LPGA Tour is something I’ve dreamed of for the longest time. To tee it up there as a member of the LPGA is going to be really neat. I’m going to take it all in. It’s going to be really special for me.”
Across three starts so far as a 2020 LPGA Tour rookie, Hollis has made two cuts with a career-best finish of tied for 13th at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open in February.
Two wins on the Epson Tour in 2019 helped Hollis to No. 5 in the Volvik Race for the Card to first earn LPGA Tour membership as a 2019 Epson Tour graduate. Across 30 starts on the “Road to the LPGA” in two seasons, Hollis captured nine total top-10 results.
“I think I matured a lot playing on the Epson Tour, more mentally,” Hollis said. “My first season [2018] was a half season because I finished my junior year at UGA. I focused so much on my results and trying to make it to the LPGA, that I forgot to just play golf.
“If I didn’t have 2019 on the Epson Tour, I mean that’s a year that’s going to help me for the rest of my career. The friendships I made and being able to meet so many great people, I wouldn’t trade my year in 2019 for anything. I learned so much.”
