After the seventh tournament of the 2020 Epson Tour season, the Volvik Race for the Card rankings welcome a few new players into the mix thanks to their performance at the Epson Classic at LPGA International.
Moving up two spots, Fatima Fernandez Cano (Santiago, Spain) claims the No. 1 spot on the money list following a tied for third in Daytona Beach bringing her to a total of $44,187 in earnings this year. Following at No. 2, Kim Kaufman (Clark, South Dakota) collected a check of $22,500 from her third career “Road to the LPGA” title in South Bend, Ind. and $38,386 in total this season.
“I’m thrilled to be leading the ranking now with three tournaments to go. It really feels like the hard work is paying off and I’m looking forward to the final sprint of the season,” said Cano. “My goal this year is to finish the season top five and play in the U.S. Women’s Open in December, as well as, gaining membership into the LPGA, so I will make sure that I continue to work hard to maintain this No. 1 spot.”
Bailey Tardy (Norcross, Georgia) drops to No. 3 with $37,474 and is the only person in the top five who has not won an event this season. Ruixin Liu (Guangdong, People’s Republic of China) comes in at No. 4 with $32,838 and Janie Jackson (Huntsville, Alabama) just behind at No. 5 with $32,540. Next in line is 18-year-old Lucy Li (Redwood Shores, California) at No. 6, with three top-five finishes this season including second place at the Epson Classic and total earnings of $31,634.
Claiming her third title on Tour at the IOA Golf Classic presented by HomeValue.com, Laura Wearn (Charlotte, North Carolina) has a season earnings of $25,533 to sit at No. 7. After winning the Epson Classic and taking home a check for $26,250, Peiyun Chien (Pingtung, Chinese Taipei) joins the top 10 at No. 8 with $27,143. At No. 9 Robyn Choi (Gold Coast, Australia) has $26,701 and rookie Anna Redding (Concord, North Carolina) has earned $26,561 to complete the top 10.
“I am excited about my win this week and putting myself on the top-10 list. The goal is to finish in the top five, so I still have some work to do this season, and I am looking forward to the Mission Inn Resort and Club Championship,” said Chien.
At the end of the season, the top-five players in the Volvik Race for the Card standings will graduate onto the LPGA Tour for the 2021 campaign.
