FINAL ROUND CANCELLED DUE TO UNPLAYABLE COURSE CONDITIONS
After receiving nearly 2 inches of rain from Saturday into Sunday, course conditions at LPGA International have deteriorated to the point they become unplayable. With additional rain expected in Daytona Beach, Epson Tour officials decided to reduce the 2020 Epson Classic to 54 holes, with the results posted after Saturday’s third round considered final.
CHIEN TAKES HOME SECOND EPSON TOUR WIN
For the second time, Peiyun Chien (Pingtung, Chinese Taipei) is a champion on the “Road to the LPGA.” After carding a 2-under on Saturday and finishing 14-under par overall after a birdie on the last hole, Chien takes home the champion title as the course was unplayable after 54 holes.
“I’m really excited to get this win. My new swing change helped me get here this week. Thank you to the Epson Tour for all your hard work this week and I look forward to competing with the LPGA Tour next week,” said Chien.
Chien has a quick turnaround before her eighth start on the LPGA Tour this season. With a season-best finish of tied for 20 on the LPGA Tour, Chien hopes to bring this momentum to Pennsylvania for the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

NOTABLE QUOTES
Fatima Fernandez Cano (-10, T3) on improving her iron game:
“I’m very happy with my game during the first three rounds of the tournament. Luckily, I got some good practice in at the beginning of the week that I think has helped my irons feel better than they did last week at Alaqua Country Club, and was why I was able to hit a lot of greens and give myself some very good birdie chances.”
Anna Redding (-10, T3) on working to get to the top during her rookie season:
“It feels great to have another top-5 this season. I’ve been consistent and I’m really proud of the work my team and I have been doing. To be in the top 10 on the money list with three more events to go has me fired up with the end goal to be in the top-5.”
Savannah Vilaubi (-9, T5) on seeing improvements and staying positive:
“I’ve been working so diligently on my game, particularly the mental side, and missing the cut last week felt like a huge blow. Despite that failure, I had this unshakable faith that I was so close to playing my best golf. I took what I learned from that MC and was 100% committed to applying it to this event. This week my visualization was crystal clear before each shot, and I was convinced of each shot’s success before I pulled the trigger. I feel like that allowed my physical game to finally shine through. I was confident that I would go out there and make more birdies in the 4th round, but after 54 holes I’m happy with what this top-5 finish represents. It means I’m becoming more familiar with my future self and finally stepping into the golfer and professional athlete I strive to be. The mental and physical game came together this week and I now know how to make that the norm. I’m confident that this is just the beginning of my successes.”
