The Volvik Race for the Card welcomes a fresh top-10 following the 13th tournament of the 2019 Epson Tour campaign, with a couple changes on the big board and most recent “Road to the LPGA” champion now setting the pace.
Perrine Delacour (Paris, France) takes over the top spot after capturing her second win of the season at the Prasco Charity Championship. The victory increased total season earnings to $96,878. Meanwhile, Jillian Hollis (Rocky River, Ohio) was forced to withdraw from competition last week and slots $4,179 back at No. 2.
“I’m really happy about moving up,” said Delacour, who has seven straight top-10 finishes. “My goal is to be in the top-10 at the end of the season, but if I finish No. 1 then I will take that for sure. I’m just going to keep trying to play good golf for the rest of the year and see what happens. To be here at this point is great.”
Continuing down the rankings, both Leona Maguire (County Cavan, Ireland) and Julieta Granada (Asuncion, Paraguay) did not make the trip to TPC River’s Bend. They remain at $75,654 and $61,473, respectively. Checking in at No. 5 is Nuria Iturrioz (Mallorca, Spain). She finished tied for 41st in Maineville to take a stronger hold on the position with $57,104.
Leading the second half is Maddie Szeryk (London, Ontario, Canada), having earned $49,579 across 12 starts. Only $1,508 behind the Texas A&M University graduate at No. 7 is Auburn University alumna Cydney Clanton (Concord, North Carolina), one of six champions from 2019 in the top-10.
Rounding out the group is Daniela Iacobelli (Melbourne, Florida) with $46,641, then Min Seo Kwak (Seoul, Republic of Korea) and Kyung Kim (Chandler, Arizona) trading places. A difference of only $1,310 exists between the two.
“Playing seven of the last eight weeks has me ready to sleep a lot to get prepared for the second half of the season,” said Kwak, who ended tied for ninth in Warren County and has made $44,804 this year. “It was a good stretch with four top-10s and I need to keep up those type of finishes to stay in the mix. Every week becomes more important now.”
At the end of the season, the top-10 players in the Volvik Race for the Card standings will graduate onto the LPGA Tour for the 2020 season.
