The Volvik Race for the Card welcomes a fresh top-10 following the ninth tournament of the 2019 Epson Tour campaign, with a couple moves up the standings and most staying steady.
Leona Maguire (County Cavan, Ireland) did not compete in the second annual Valley Forge Invitational, but continues to set the pace with $74,993. Meanwhile, Julieta Granada (Asuncion, Paraguay) finished tied for 33rd in Montgomery County to increase her season winnings to $55,680 and maintain the No. 2 spot.
Continuing down the rankings, Nuria Iturrios (Mallorca, Spain) took last week off as well. She holds down the fort at No. 3 having captured $53,508 across seven starts. Right behind the Zimmer Biomet Championship hosted by Nancy Lopez winner is Perrine Delacour (Paris, France), playing some of the best golf of her career turning in three straight top-five finishes.
“It’s always really good to move up in the top-10, especially since I accomplished really good golf in Pottstown,” said Delacour, who trails Iturrios by $7,856. “Even though I didn’t get the win, there comes a lot of confidence and good vibes I can take. I’ll take every dollar I can right now, but keep in mind that we still have a lot of golf left to play this season and I need to keep pursuing the highest level with all I have.”
Checking in at No. 5 is Jillian Hollis (Rocky River, Ohio) at $39,885, then leading the second half of the top-10 is another 2019 Epson Tour champion in Maria Parra (Guadiaro, Spain). The IOA Invitational victor secured a tied for 15th showing in Pottstown, Pa. to bump her total earnings this season to $35,044. Down one place after getting some rest back home is Maddie Szeryk (London, Ontario, Canada).
Rounding out the group is Min Seo Kwak (Seoul, Republic of Korea) cashing $31,661 so far, Cydney Clanton (Concord, North Carolina) with $31,204 and Lauren Coughlin (Charlottesville, Virginia) up two spots finding her way back to the table at $30,710. A difference of only $2,921 exists between Szeryk and Coughlin.
“It is always nice to have a good tournament week, and getting back in the top-10 is always a good feeling,” said Coughlin, who went solo sixth in the Valley Forge Invitational. “I will need a few more events playing like this to stay, but I’m looking forward to the rest of the year and what is in store.”
At the end of the season, the top-10 players in the Volvik Race for the Card standings will graduate onto the LPGA Tour for the 2020 season.
