The Volvik Race for the Card welcomes a fresh top-10 following the 14th tournament of the 2019 Epson Tour campaign, with a trio of moves up the standings and the first four positions remaining unchanged.
Perrine Delacour (Paris, France) added to her lead at No. 1 by going solo third in the Donald Ross Classic, increasing total season earnings to $112,705. Checking in behind the Four Winds Invitational and Prasco Charity Championship winner is a pair of two-time Epson Tour champions this year in Jillian Hollis (Rocky River, Ohio) and Leona Maguire (County Cavan, Ireland) at $93,821 and $78,839, respectively.
Continuing down the rankings, Julieta Granada (Asuncion, Paraguay) missed her first cut of the season in French Lick, Ind., to stay at $61,473. Meanwhile, just $486 back after jumping eight places to No. 5 is Ssu-Chia Cheng (Taipei, Chinese Taipei). She had a career-best outright second result last week in Orange County.
“At this time of the year, every stop becomes more crucial,” said Cheng, who has seven top-15 finishes in 13 starts this season. “It will take great performances to stay in the top-10 group, but I need to remember that all I can control is my game. I gain more confidence each time on the course and am enjoying the process.”
Leading the second half is Nuria Iturrioz (Mallorca, Spain), having earned $57,990 across 11 starts. Then it is Min Seo Kwak (Seoul, Republic of Korea) up two spots and Esther Lee (Los Alamitos, California) up three with $54,111 and $50,219, respecitvely.
“To finally work my way here is a great feeling, but it is only the start of what I hope to accomplish,” said Lee, who ended tied for fourth in Southern Indiana with three other players including Kwak. “As we head toward the home stretch, keeping the attention to detail and staying fresh will be important factors.”
Rounding out the group is Maddie Szeryk (London, Ontario, Canada) at $49,579 and Kyung Kim (Chandler, Arizona). A difference of $53 exists between the two, while $1,508 separates Szeryk and Cydney Clanton (Concord, North Carolina) in the No. 13 slot.
At the end of the season, the top-10 players in the Volvik Race for the Card standings will graduate onto the LPGA Tour for the 2020 season.
