The horn sounded, and players evacuated the course at 12:42 p.m. ET, about halfway through the opening round of the Fuccillo Kia Classic of NY with only a handful of players in the field of 144 having completed the round. Tournament play was eventually suspended for the day at Capital Hills at Albany due to thunderstorms and heavy rains at 2:35 p.m. ET.
Katie Kempter is the clubhouse leader, having posted a 4-under-par to sit atop the leaderboard, after completing the first round before the weather rolled in and the stoppage of play.
Elizabeth Tong and Stephanie Na are also 4-under-par on the day, but have a few holes to play when the tournament resumes on Saturday.
