The Epson Tour tees it up this week for the Guardian Championship; three featured groups highlight the 120-player field that will compete for a $160,000 purse from September 21-23 at the Senator Course of Capitol Hill Golf Club on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
Eun Jeong Seong, Dottie Ardina, Brittany Benvenuto
7:44 a.m. – 1st Tee
Eun Jeong Seong is playing alongside Dottie Ardina and Brittany Benvenuto during the opening rounds of the Guardian Championship. Don’t count Seong out this week, she is coming off a rare missed cut at the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout, so there will be extra motivation this week to pick up her second win of 2018 and move a step closer to securing her LPGA Tour Card for the 2019 season.
Ardina enters this week a little more relaxed having already secured her spot on the LPGA Tour for next season, however picking up a victory would add to her incredible year. The Filipino has five top 10s on the season and is primed for her first career win. Ardina will be making he first start in Prattville.
Benvenuto had an excellent week at the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout, a runner-up finish, a season-best. She has an additional top 10 finish on the season; T8 at the Prasco Charity Championship. This will be Benvenuto’s first start in Prattville.
Jenny Haglund, Leona Maguire, Vicky Hurst
7:55 a.m. – 1st Tee
Jenny Haglund arrives in Alabama looking to become the first two-time winner of the season; she currently sits eighth in the Volvik Race for the Card standings. The Swede has put herself in contention on more than one occasion this year with four top-10s, including a win at the Epson Classic. Haglund is grouped with Leona Maguire and Vicky Hurst in the opening rounds.
In eleven starts, Maguire has posted five top 19 results. The rookie makes her first start in Prattville, Alabama after coming off of another solid week that has her moving up in the Volvik Race for the Card standings.
Hurst makes her first start in the Guardian Championship after coming off T38 finish at the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout. In eleven starts this season Hurst has posted two top 10 results including a win at the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic.
Linnea Strom, Casey Danielson, Maia Schechter
12:24 pm. – 10th Tee
Linnea Strom will play alongside Casey Danielson and Maia Schechter in the first two rounds of the Guardian Championship. The rookie from Sweden is looking for win number two as she makes her first start in Alabama.
In six starts this season Danielson has posted five top 10 results. The rookie from Wisconson ranks No. 35 on the Volvik Race for the Card money list and makes her first start in Prattville.
Schechter looks to earn her second Epson Tour win as she makes her second start in the Guardian Championship where she finished T42 last year. The third-year member currently sits nineteenth in the Volvik Race for the Card standings, and with another strong finish, she could move inside the top 10.
