Monday Qualifiers are never easy, we all know that. They can be further complicated by travel, especially when you finish a Epson Tour event the afternoon prior.
Brianna Do (Lakewood, Calif.) finished T31 at the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic on Sunday at approximately 3:30 p.m. She left The Links at Stoney Point at 4:00 p.m. with fellow pro Christine Song and they drove approximately seven hours from Greenwood, South Carolina to Williamsburg, Virginia. They arrived just before midnight.
Do and Song were two of 49 players seeking a spot in the Kingsmill Championship this week on the LPGA. Do was in the first group off at 8:00 a.m. and posted a 2-under, 69 to earn her first LPGA start of the season. Laura Jansone of Latvia, who has played the Epson Tour in the past, took the second spot.
Do made four birdies and two bogeys.
“I was running on adrenaline today,” said Do, who we contacted via phone after qualifying. “I made par saves on holes eight and ten that were key to keeping the round going in the right direction.”
Do – who finished 3rd on the Volvik Race for the Card money list in 2015 – retained partial LPGA status through 2016 Qualifying School so her start this week will count towards the official money list.
The former UCLA star currently ranks 57th on the Epson Tour money list in seven starts.
