Epson Tour members Ally McDonald, who ranks third on the Volvik Race for the Card money list, and Laura Gonzalez Escallon, who ranks tenth, both made the cut at The Evian Championship. McDonald is currently T17 at 3-under, 139 with two under-par rounds while Gonzalez Escallon grinded to make the weekend and stands T57 at 2-over, 144.
“I missed the cut at the two U.S. Open’s I’ve played so it is exciting to make the cut an LPGA major,” said McDonald. “Hopefully I can keep the momentum going the final two rounds.”
Gonzalez Escallon recovered from an opening round 73 to make the weekend in her first ever LPGA tournament.
“I’m really excited because I had to work hard today to make it to the weekend,” said the two-time Epson Tour winner Gonzalez Escallon. “It is really big for my confidence and I made a couple big putts today.”
McDonald and Gonzalez Escallon earned spots in the Evian Championship by finishing in the top two at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship in Battle Creek, Michigan.
