Proceeds from tournament will benefit local children’s hospital and Tour professionals will make visit during tournament week
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., March 17, 2016 - The Epson Tour, the Road to the LPGA, announced today that Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida has been named the beneficiary of the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial. All tournament proceeds will benefit the local Fort Myers hospital and Epson Tour players will visit Golisano Children’s Hospital during the week of the tournament.
The Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial will be played at Cypress Lake Country Club from April 14-17.
“Our tournament in Sarasota began a partnership with Golisano this year so we thought it was a natural fit to partner with them in Fort Myers,” said Epson Tour Chief Business Officer Mike Nichols. “We are committed to not only providing great golf to the community, but we also want to make an impact and this is a great opportunity to give back to the area.”
The Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial is a joint event between the Epson Tour and the Legends Tour. The tournament begins with the Epson Tour on Thursday, April 14. The Legends Tour event begins on Saturday, April 16. The two Tours will compete simultaneously on Saturday and Sunday for separate purses.
“We are thankful to both the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial tournament and the LPGA Epson Tour for directing funds from this outstanding event to Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida,” said Skip Leonard, chief foundation officer, Lee Memorial Health System Foundation. “As the new Golisano Children’s Hospital takes shape and moves forward toward opening in 2017, it is reassuring to know partners such as Chico’s and Epson stand ready to continue to provide support.”
Top Epson Tour professionals including Erynee Lee, who won the IOA Championship to start the year and Nelly Korda, the sister of LPGA star Jessica, are expected to compete alongside LPGA Hall-of-Famers from the Legends Tour.
Admission is free all four days of the tournament. For more information on the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial including volunteer opportunities and pro-am spots, visit www.chicospattybergmemorial.com
