DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., June 30, 2015 – The Epson Tour, Road to the LPGA, announced Sunday that Giulia Molinaro (Treviso, Italy) won the Epson Swift Award for leading the Volvik Race for the Card money list with $38,285 through the first 12 events of the year. Molinaro earns $1,500 for winning the Epson Swift Award.
In just eight starts, Molinaro has separated herself as the top player on Tour with six top 10 finishes
including two second place results. Molinaro finished in a tie for fourth at the Island Resort Championship to jump from sixth to first.
“It’s incredible to be leading halfway through the year,” said Molinaro, who has finished in the top 5 in three straight events. “It has been a great year so far, but we are only halfway home and there is lots of golf left to be played with great players so I’ll enjoy this moment for now and be back to working hard Tuesday.”
Epson Financial will make a $1,000 donation in Molinaro’s name to Big Life Foundation, an organization protecting two million acres of wilderness in the Amboseli-Tsavo ecosystem of East Africa.
Molinaro, who grew up in Kenya, is an ambassador for Big Life Foundation with goals of raising awareness and money through her play on the Epson Tour and LPGA.
“African wildlife is a big passion of mine so I decided to donate to Big Life Foundation because I am an ambassador and I’ve experienced how magical safaris can be and I want them always to be that way,” said Molinaro, whose father has a safari camp in the Tsavo National Park called Galdesso Camp that she used to visit as a kid. “They (Big Life) are doing great things to help fight poaching in Kenya and I’m thankful to Epson for helping me make this donation.”
Molinaro finished second on the Volvik Race for the Card money list in 2013 to earn her LPGA Tour card for 2014. She made 18 starts on the LPGA Tour in 2014 and hopes for a return to the highest level of professional golf in 2016.
Molinaro and the Epson Tour begin the second half of the season this week at the inaugural Tullymore Classic in Stanwood, Michigan from July 3-5. There are 11 events remaining in the 2015 season. The top 10 on the year-end money list will earn LPGA Tour membership for 2016.
