Kwak awarded $1,500 prize as leading money winner
at halfway mark of 2014 Epson Tour
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — June 11, 2014 — The Epson Tour — Road to the LPGA announced Sunday that Seoul, South Korea native Min Seo Kwak is the recipient of the 2014 Epson Swift Award. The award is presented to the player with the fastest start to the season recognized by her number one spot on the money list at the Tour’s midway point.
Kwak, who won the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship at the Battle Creek Country Club on June 8 with a magnificent 7-under-par 65 in the final round, was presented a check for $1,500 at the conclusion of play. In addition to the prize money, Epson will make a donation of $1,000 in Kwak’s name to the American Cancer Society. Earlier this year, Kwak won the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial, whose principal beneficiary was the American Cancer Society.
“I’m excited to have won the Epson Swift Award; it was a nice bonus for me,” said Kwak. “It has always been a goal of mine to help people, and I’m thankful that Epson is making a $1,000 donation on my behalf to the American Cancer Society.”
Kwak is a two-time winner on the 2014 Epson Tour, finishing in the top-10 in five of eight events played to lead the money list for the first time this season. By taking over the top spot, she has positioned herself as a clear-cut favorite to receive her LPGA Tour card at the end of the year. Kwak currently ranks second on Tour in scoring average (71.38), fifth in putting average (29.67), and second in rounds under par (14).
“Min Seo Kwak’s play on the Epson Tour this season has been electrifying,” said Jim Pirak, Epson’s senior vice president of Marketing. “One of golf’s rising stars, Epson is pleased to recognize Min Seo’s achievement as the earnings leader at the Tour’s mid-point with the Epson Swift Award, as well as a donation to her favorite charity.”
The Epson Tour kicks off the second half of the 2014 schedule at the 30th anniversary Decatur-Forsyth Classic presented by Tate & Lyle and Decatur Park District from June 13-15.
