While Esther Choe was the only multiple time winner during the 2012 Epson Tour season, it seemed as if Thidapa Suwannapura was always in the hunt week in and week out.
The Bangkok, Thailand native tallied the most top-10 and top-20 finishes out of all the players in the Volvik Race for the card top-10 with six top-10 finishes and eight top-20 finishes to land fourth in the season-ending race standings.
Despite the number of top finishes, Suwannapura did not break inside the Volvik Race for the Card top-10 until she recorded her first-career Epson Tour victory at the second to last stop on the schedule, the Vidalia Championship.
A graduate of Ramkhamhaeng University, Suwannapura was a rookie on the 2012 LPGA Tour after a tied for 29th finish at the 2011 LPGA Final Qualifying Tour. With only limited status, Suwannapura’s only start on the LPGA was at the Kingsmill Championship where she finished tied for 55th.
Look for Suwannapura to consistently go low on next year’s LPGA Tour as she led this year’s Epson Tour in scoring average and rounds under par. Suwannapura also finished in the top-10 in greens in regulation, putts get GIR, and sad saves.
