The first two legs of the Potawatomi Cup events are complete, and the Epson Tour is now on the final leg of the series at the Four Winds Invitational.
In case you missed how the Potawatomi Cup works, it is a point-based ranking sponsored by Native American tribes in the Potawatomi Nation that awards bonus money to Epson Tour athletes. Taking place during the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, Island Resort Championship and Four Winds Invitational, the top finishers at each event will earn points, with the cumulative winner being crowned after the completion of the Four Winds Invitational this week. The point breakdown for each event is as follows:
Potawatomi Cup Breakdown | ||
---|---|---|
Finish Position | Cup Points | Bonus Money Earned |
1st | 500 | $3,000 |
2nd | 300 | $2,000 |
3rd | 190 | $1,000 |
4th | 135 | $750 |
5th | 110 | $500 |
6th | 100 | $250 |
After her win at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, Siyun Liu still leads the way with 500 points. Liu did not compete at the Island Resort Championship but was able to maintain her lead, but not by a lot.
“I’m happy to be in the position I’m in right now, and hopefully, I can keep it up with some solid play,” said Liu. “Also, I just want to say thank you to the Potawatomi Tribe, and I appreciate them for their continued support in women’s golf.”
Right behind Liu are Auston Kim and Natasha Andrea Oon. Tsai Ching Tseng picked up a victory at the second Potawatomi Cup event, the Island Resort Championship, but was not an Epson Tour member at the time of her entry, so she was ineligible for points. Now, Tseng is a tour member and can earn points this week at the Four Winds Invitational.
Here’s a look at the current Potawatomi Cup leaderboard:
