A total of 108 players will take on the challenge of Ol' Colony Golf Course starting Friday with the first round of the inaugural Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic. Three featured groups highlight the field that will compete for a $200,000 purse from September 30-October 2 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Natalie Srinivasan, Gigi Stoll, Britney Yada
8:14 a.m. – 1st Tee
This week Natalie Srinivasan plays with a bit more confidence after coming off a T-4 finish at the Guardian Championship; she has notched two additional top 10s this season and is looking for her first career win. Srinivasan is grouped with Gigi Stoll and Britney Yada in the opening rounds.
Stoll adds to the firepower of this featured group, having played the weekend in 12 of 19 starts. Currently No. 52 on the Official Money List, Stoll has two weeks to make a push and jump up in the rankings. A finish in the top-35 at the end of the season would allow her to head straight to Q-Series and compete for her LPGA card.
Rounding out the group is most recent Epson Tour champion Britney Yada who comes to the Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic fresh off her first professional win at the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout. A Portland State University alumna, Yada has played the weekend in 12 of 19 starts this season, earning five top-25s along the way. Another strong performance from Yada, and you'll find her inside the top 10 in the Ascensus Race for the Card standings.
Laura Restrepo, Xiaowen Yin, Pavarisa Yoktuan
12:12 p.m. 1st Tee
Laura Restrepo, Xiaowen Yin, and Pavarisa Yoktuan are grouped during the Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic opening rounds. Restrepo has had her share of struggles this season, with only two top 10 results; with another solid showing this week, she will continue to move up in the standings.
Currently ranked No. 1 in the Ascensus Race for the Card standings and a two-time Epson Tour champion this year, Xiaowen Yin will make her first start since the Wildhorse Ladies Golf Classic. With seven top-10 finishes in 2022, including four top-five results, Yin has accumulated $117,443 in total season earnings and secured her spot on the LPGA Tour for the 2023 season. She continues the push for Player of the Year this week in Tuscaloosa.
Yoktuan rounds out this grouping. She has collected $54,702 across 11 starts, highlighted by her two runner-up performances at the Wildhorse Ladies Golf Classic and Ann Arbor's Road to the LPGA powered by the A2 Sports Commission. Yoktuan currently sits No.21 in the Ascensus Race for the Card standings and has her eye on a spot in the top 10.
Amy Lee, Kiira Riihijarvi, Linnea Strom
12:45 p.m. – 1st Tee
Amy Lee will play alongside Kiira Riihijarvi and Linnea Strom in the first two rounds of the Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic. The 2017 Big 12 Player of the Year is coming off a missed cut but hoping for a strong finish this week that would allow her to straight to Q-Series and compete for her LPGA card.
Riihijarvi arrives in Alabama looking to pick up win number two and secure her card for the LPGA season; she currently sits ninth in the Ascensus Race for the Card standings. The Finn has put herself in contention on more than one occasion this year with four top-10s, including a win at the Ann Arbor's Road to the LPGA powered by the A2 Sports Commission.
Strom enters the week a little more relaxed, having already secured her spot on the LPGA Tour for next season; however, picking up a victory would add to her incredible year. The Swede has five top 10s on the season and is primed for career win number three.
