Earlier this season Lilia Vu (Fountain Valley, California) claimed her first win on the Epson Tour at the Garden City Charity Classic. Since then, Vu has made five cuts in five starts, including a T4 finish last week in French Lick, IN. In the midst of the tournaments, she took one week off to attend a family member’s wedding. While she enjoyed her time, she missed being on the course.
“I took that week off in Ohio because I went to my cousins wedding but I kind of miss being out here. I think it's fun playing tournaments like all my friends are out here it's just fun,” said Vu. “I really love spectators and volunteers are so cute because they're so excited for us to be out here and I just I played better with the crowd too, so I've been really enjoying it.”
Vu is tied at 6-under par with Min A Yoon and Allison Emrey at they head into Saturday in Rochester, NY. The group is only two-strokes behind the lead with 36-holes left to play.
“I knew that No. 2 was a reachable par 5 because I reached it yesterday. It's important to be in the fairway because it's kind of tight but if you're in the fairway you have a pretty good chance. I took the two-hybrid because I didn't want to be long, I hit as hard as I could and luckily, I caught a piece the right fringe and it bounced straight. I think I had a ten-footer left and then it was just a straight putt,” said Vu on her eagle today. “Yesterday I played OK, I didn't give myself enough birdie chances, but I did today. I'm just going to keep up what I've been doing.”
