Frida Kinhult (Fiskebackskil, Sweden), shot a 1-over 72 on Saturday and will head into Sunday’s final round at –3 overall, tied for third with Casey Danielson (Osceola, Wisconsin) and Vicky Hurst (Melbourne, Florida).
“I struggled a little off the tee in the beginning. It really cost me because I was in the tree two times and caused me bogeys. Two-putt after two-putts it just got boring,” said Kinhult. “I told Ana (Belac) one the last hole, okay it’s time (for the putt to drop). I just lipped out on No. 8, so I gave myself good chances the last three holes and was good fun to find birdie on the last hole. Overall, it was a good round, and anything can happen tomorrow so we will just have to wait and see.”
This is the Florida State Univeristy alumna’s 14th start on the Epson Tour. Kinhult, 21, has three career top-10 finishes, including one win in 2020 at River Run Country Club, where she finished -10. Tomorrow, she will tee off at 12:20 p.m. ET and is paired with fellow “Road to the LPGA” rookie Sophie Hausmann (Nottuln, Germany) for the final round.
NOTABLE QUOTES
Casey Danielson (-3, T3) on mentality going into tomorrow:
“I’ve been playing some really solid golf, really steady. My putter working for me right now, I made a couple long putts the last two days so that’s really fun. (Going into the final round) I always try to keep the same mentality, whether I am a couple over or a couple under I just try and stay steady and takes what comes. As cliché as it sounds, taking one shot at a time and know I am committed to each shot.”
Vicky Hurst (-3, T3) on getting back on the leaderboard:
“It feels great to be back on the leaderboard. I haven’t started the season as well as I had hoped, so to see my name up there is a great feeling. Also, playing solid the last two days on a tough course is a great confidence boost going into next week’s LPGA Tour event.”
Gabriela Ruffels (-2, T6) on her thoughts after day two at River Run Country Club:
“Overall I am happy with the two days so far and scores are definitely showing that this course is not playing easy. I got to play this course last year for the Epson Tour Championship and was lucky enough to get a spot in this year as well, and I definitely brought the mindset that scores are not going to be extremely low out here, steady golf is good golf. Excited for tomorrow.”
