After the second tournament of the 2020 Epson Tour season, the Volvik Race for the Card welcomes a few new players into the top-10 thanks to their performance at the seventh annual FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship.
Janie Jackson (Huntsville, Alabama) protected her No. 1 spot on the money list thanks to a solo third result in Battle Creek. She has earned $30,682 across two starts. Close behind is Ruixin Liu (Guangdong, People’s Republic of China) with earnings of $30,319 in large part to her win at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, the fourth title of her Epson Tour career.
Checking in at No. 3 is Bailey Tardy (Norcross, Georgia), having collected $16,392 after a runner-up finish at Battle Creek Country Club. Proud of how she battled, Tardy is not getting ahead of herself and is staying focused with another tournament just a couple weeks away.
“Last weekend, I knew I had it in me and am happy with the results,” said Tardy. “It’s nice to be sitting in the Volvik Race for the Card top three currently, but I have to keep in mind we have a lot of season left. Arizona and California are right around the corner. I look forward to competing again and bettering my game each week.”
To complete the top five, Daniella Iacobelli (Melbourne, Florida) skipped the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship and remains at $11,771. Meanwhile, Kim Kaufman (Clark, South Dakota) sits at $8,375 following a tied for fourth finish in southwest Michigan.
Alone in sixth with collective earnings from the first two events this year of $8,310 is Lakareber Abe (The Woodlands, Texas). Then it is Lauren Coughlin (Charlottesville, Virginia) and rookie Yae Eun Hong (Seoul, Republic of Korea) tied for seventh position at $6,867.
“It was great to see some familiar faces and get back on the road with the Epson Tour. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to be competing again this year,” Coughlin said. “I’m excited to see my name in the Volvik Race for the Card top-10 this week and can’t wait to compete more down the road.”
Finally, with two top-15 performances so far on the year, Dewi Weber (Groningen, Netherlands) finds herself at No. 9 with $5,776. Rounding out the top-10 is Paula Reto (Bloemfontein, South Africa) and Ji Eun Baik (Cumming, Georgia), tied for the final spot after each cashed a $5,663 paycheck in Calhoun County.
At the end of the season, the top five players in the Volvik Race for the Card standings will graduate onto the LPGA Tour for the 2021 campaign.
