Kyung Kim, a three-time WGCA All-American and three-time All-Pac 12 selection at USC, has been given sponsor exemptions into the next two Epson Tour events. She will compete in the IOA Championship at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon from March 24-30 and then the following week in the Gateway Classic at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona. Kim, who did not advance out of Stage I of Qualifying Tournament, has shown great promise on the mini tour circuit.
She has won three of the seven Cactus Tour events this year including back-to-back in late February. She nearly won four tournaments in a row. She won three times and finished second by one shot during a four tournament stretch.
During the 2013-14 season at USC, Kim broke the record for rounds in the 60’s with 11.
Kim, who played golf at the same high school as Epson Tour winner Hannah O’Sullivan, was the 2010 Arizona High School Player of the Year and was a four-time Rolex Junior All-American and a member of the 2011 Junior Solheim Cup team. Further, Kim won the 2012 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.
The 22-year-old could join a a long list of former USC Trojans that have had success of the Epson Tour. The most recent example is Annie Park, who was the 2015 Epson Player of the Year. Former Trojan Sophia Popov finished 14th on the Volvik Race for the Card money list last year while Paola Moreno won the Tullymore Classic in 2016.
