Nanna Koerstz Madsen (Copenhagen, Denmark) is still going through her routine and treating the IOA Golf Classic like a normal week on Tour. However, she’s a little more relaxed knowing that has already secured her LPGA Tour card.
“You always want to win, but I am pretty loose,” said Koerstz Madsen after finishing her practice at Alaqua Country Club. “I just want to finish this year and I’m definitely looking forward to next year. I’m not going to be pissed if I don’t win one of these or anything like that. I’m just going to enjoy the weeks here in Florida and enjoy the weather because it is going to be really cold in Denmark."
Koerstz Madsen played in three LPGA events after winning her third Epson Tour event in Rochester to earn a “Battlefield Promotion” to the LPGA this year.
She is back on the Epson Tour this week and will play the final two events.
“I was excited to go out there (LPGA) to play, but mostly to see how things are and get to know some of the staff and people around the tournaments,” said Koerstz Madsen. “It was a really good experience to get ready for next year.”
Koerstz Madsen established herself as a top rising star in women’s golf this year on the Epson Tour. She currently ranks No. 121 in the world and is the second highest ranked player from Denmark.
Her parents are flying into Orlando on Friday evening and will stay with her the next week and a half to witness the LPGA card ceremony in Daytona Beach.
Koerstz Madsen will head back to Denmark after the Tour Championship and play in two Ladies European Tour events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
“My goal was get the LPGA card and I got that,” said Koerstz Madsen. “I’m happy with my season.”
Koerstz Madsen said she will continue to work on her swing during the offseason and really try to dial in her wedge play to get ready for the LPGA.
