Stoelting ranks sixth on the Volvik Race for the Card money list
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA, May 19, 2014 – Epson Tour member Jackie Stoelting, who also has conditional LPGA Tour status, defeated Fiamma Felitch in the finale of Golf Channel’s Big Break Florida on Monday night.
“This is the biggest thing that I’ve ever won in my golf career,” Stoelting said. “It’s still settling in even though it happened seven months ago it’s just starting to feel real now.”
By virtue of winning Big Break Florida, Stoelting will receive a $50,000 cash prize plus an exemption into the 2014 Manulife Financial LPGA Classic, which will be held June 5-8 in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
Stoelting also earns a litany of other prizes including an endorsement deal with Adams Golf which includes $10,000 in cash, $5,000 in cash courtesy of Dick’s Sporting Goods, a $10,000 car rental credit from Avis, $10,000 in cash courtesy of Macanudo, a $13,000 travel credit from Travelocity and a four day stay at the Omni Golf Resort, where the show was filmed.
“I ended up surprising my family at home and got to watch it with them which was really special,” Stoelting said. “It’s crazy being able to watch it now on TV because honestly when I played it I was like some of those golf shots weren’t great but when I watched it they were better than I thought so I guess I was pleasantly surprised.”
The Big Break Florida victory comes during Stoelting’s best season on the Epson Tour. She has three top-10 finishes through eight events including a tie for fourth at last week’s Friends of Mission Charity Classic presented by Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort. Stoelting’s best finish this season is a tie for second at the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic.
“It’s been a little crazy. A lot of people have come out to the Epson Tour and followed me and it’s been great,” Stoelting said. “It’s been amazing exposure for my career. It’s been so positive.”
The 27-year-old from Vero Beach, Florida moved to sixth on the Volvik Race for the Card money list after her strong showing in Asheville this past week. She has accumulated $21,780 in on-course earnings. Stoelting is less than $2,000 from matching her earnings from last year when she finished 14th on the money list and less than $6,000 from eclipsing her career high in season earnings.
Stoelting has competed full-time on the Epson Tour since 2010.
Stoelting is scheduled to play this week in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Epson Classic, which begins on Thursday, May 22 and runs through Saturday, May 24.
