The only two-time winner on the 2012 Epson Tour, Esther Choe has had her fair share of ups-and-downs during her five year career as a professional.
Prior to a standout year in 2012, Choe’s best year on the Epson Tour came in 2010 when she finished 12th on the season-ending money list and recorded five top-10 finishes.
A standout junior golfer, Choe returned to old form in 2012 winning her first event of the year at the Sara Bay Classic which catapulted her to No. 2 in Volvik Race for the Card standings. Choe showed no signs of slowing down and went on to immediately notch her second win of the season at the Riviera Nayarit Classic which moved her to No. 1 in the Race.
Choe, who divided her time between the Epson Tour and Ladies European Tour (LET), held the No. 1 spot for 12-consecutive weeks until a failure to play in four events dropped her to No. 2. The Scottsdale, Arizona native came into the season-ending Daytona Beach Invitational Presented by Embry Riddle trailing Paola Moreno but a T2 finish catapulted her to No. 1 and earned her Player of the Year honors.
Choe etched her name in the record books as she finished atop the tour’s money list with the fewest events (six) played in tour history, beating out Grace Park and Lorena Ochoa who had previously held the record with 10 events in 1999 and 2002.
Coming into the 2013 LPGA Tour season, Choe will be considered one of the front runners to win the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year. She will rely heavily on experience gained for the Epson and LET Tours as she recorded one top-five finish and four top-20 finishes on the 2012 LET.
