Tamworth, Australia native Julia Boland received both the Penske Accuracy Advantage Award and the Penske Total Driving Award after a break-through season in 2012. The Accuracy award recognizes the player with the best rating in driving accuracy while the Total Driving awards the player who leads the combined statistics of driving accuracy and driving distance.
“In winning both the Penske Accuracy Advantage and Penske Total Driving Experience awards, Julia has set a higher standard for future players to shoot for in one of the toughest aspects of the game,” said Penske Director of National Rental Programs Dave Baptist. “We congratulate her on this accomplishment and have no doubt she has a bright future ahead of her.”
The Symetra Tour rookie posted a 12.967 accuracy rating and a total driving rating with the combination of 12.967 (accuracy) and 261 yards (distance). Boland will receive a $500 cash prize for each award.
“The Penske trucks are a landmark of the Symetra Tour and they have provided us with the equipment that is required to make a world class event happen at each stop,” said Boland. “I am thankful for their partnership with the Tour and honored to be the winner of the Accuracy Advantage and Total Driving awards. Whether you are on the road or the golf course good driving is a recipe for success!”
In addition to her impressive statistical performance throughout the season, Boland finished 8th on the Tour’s season-ending money list to earn her 2013 LPGA Tour card. She recorded one top-10 and five top-20 finishes including her first-career victory at the Four Winds Invitational in South Bend, Ind. She was one of only two players this year to earn a win following a missed cut the week before.
