Alexandra Casi's Blog Three: Home to Recharge

Photos from Alexandra Casi highlighting her travels.

After the completion of Stage II of LPGA Qualifying Tournament, I traveled back home to East Palestine, Ohio. I was just in time to see the wonderful fall foliage that the northern states provide! Having spent the last few falls in Florida, I am now experiencing seasonal wonders again! Halloween and Thanksgiving have come and gone and now Christmas is right around the corner! How appropriate that crisp white snowflakes are beginning to fall as I am typing this blog! I didn't plan on being home this long, but finding a solid sponsor for the winter and 2013 has taken longer than I had anticipated!

To be honest, even though I'm from Ohio, I have never tried to practice in the November and December months. However, this fall I could not afford to let my game deteriorate. Remarkably, I have been able to continue to play and practice all of fall with the exception of the week we got the aftermath of hurricane Sandy. My new rule for golf is anything above 40 degrees is "golfable" !!! I used to be a bit of a wimp when it came to playing in the cold, but now I am tougher because of it! Playing golf in 75 degree weather again will almost feel easy!

I believe not finding a new sponsor right away for 2013 has been a blessing in disguise. At first I was upset especially when reading everyone's Twitter and Facebook status and seeing the pictures of the pristine blue sky in Florida! Then I realized that I am being taught a valuable life lesson. I am learning how much passion I really have for the "game" and how much I really want to succeed!  I'm starting to understand that I need to seize every opportunity with a positive mindset! You never know when those opportunities can be taken away!

The single best thing about being home is spending nearly two months with the stray dog "Andy" I found in Florida in 2011! Andy and I have an inseparable connection and this is the most time we have ever spent together! Every time I leave he gets in the car with my other two dogs! It breaks my heart to leave him, but I can't take him until we have a larger means of transportation!  I've just perfected how to travel with two dogs and I'm not sure how that could work with three???

Well, whether you're somewhere warm or cold, I hope everyone is enjoying their off-season with family and friends! We all need to recharge our batteries for another smashing season in 2013!
