SymetraTour.com recently caught up with rookie Julia Boland for a quick Q&A about her rookie season.
Use one word to describe your rookie year?
What did you learn about yourself and your game this year?
On the golf course, I learned that I need to monitor my energy and keep my life in balance - and overall I learned to rely on Jesus for my strength.
Did you set goals and if so did you accomplish them?
My goal was to not have to go to q-school! (Check)
What was your favorite part about this year as a rookie?
I loved the challenge of the golf, but I loved most the fellowship with fellow players.
What did you learn about being on the Symetra Tour that you didn’t know prior?
So much! It was a year of growth, physically and mentally. I was humbled at the number of times I made rookie errors, always with good intentions but sometimes my plans weren't practical.
Do you have any funny rookie mistakes you want to share?
Ask Joanna Coe! Following a member of my group not turning up in Mexico, Joanna and I 'reswitched' cards and somehow didn't check, and we marked our own cards. ROOKIE ERROR 101 Switch cards!
What piece of advice would you give to next year’s rookie class?
Enjoy yourself. Generally the happiest players are the winners, it's a case of chicken or the egg?!
What are some travel tips now that you are a seasoned traveler?
Get some good audio books and make Google your friend. I really enjoyed finding little places along the way to check out, it was so new and interesting almost every week.
How will you spend your off-season?
Relaxing and preparing for the LPGA!
