The second round of the IOA Golf Classic saw some low rounds, with some players going 5, 6, and 8-under. Moving Day lived up to its name, seeing players like Vivian Hou jump from 37th to 3rd, and Mariel Galdiano go from 20th to a share of fourth.
Galdiano signed for one of the lower rounds of the day, a bogey-free 6-under, 65. Friday's first-round scorecard was a bit more colorful, carding six birdies, three bogeys, and a double bogey, but the Hawaiian's dad reminded her that the low scores are out there. And he was right. Galdiano approached each shot one at a time and focused on keeping her day consistent.
"I've stayed really patient, focused really on honing down my routine. Sometimes, when things aren't really going my way, I start trying to do a lot of different things. And I've just been really grounded this week," said Galdiano. "I had kind of a tumultuous start yesterday. And I think being calm and just doing one hole at a time there helped me kind of set up for today because I had quite a few birdies yesterday. If you look at my scorecard, and my dad told me last night, you know, you can shoot like five or six under out here too, so I was like, shoot, why don't I do that? I just stayed really patient, made some putts today. That's the main difference. And then didn't make any bogeys, which is a plus for me."
The former University of California, Los Angeles Bruin will play in the second-to-last group on Sunday at 1:10 p.m. ET.
